Light and Lost
both books by Rob Cham

With rich details and simple engaging stories, Rob Cham’s Light and Lost are both a wonderful exercise in the comic medium. Quite unconventional in their style, technique and even on how they’re presented, Cham has established himself in these two books.

Using colors and sometimes the lack of it, Light narrates the journey of two newfound friends. While seemingly another cliché because of the common adventure tropes, the childlike wonder and excitement takes us back to our own imaginative pasts like how it is possible for a frog to actually swallow the characters only for them to break themselves free.

Coming from the other end of the spectrum, or maybe from a larger point of view, Lost carefully unravels two stories in different paces simultaneously. The reader is getting ‘lost’ into these separate narratives that diverge and converge in different points, just like the characters in it.

Being silent comics, Light and Lost allow the reader to be more personal and intimate with the stories and characters. Both urge you to take your time, slowly breathe in the details, craft your own understanding of the stories through the intricate illustrations found in every turn of the page.
